Of all the Places in the world....with Websters Pages

Here is one of the pages that I created with my kit from A Trip Down Memory Lane using Websters Pages Painted Passport.  I saved this map paper - I do like a map :) and decided to trim it slightly and distress the edges as well as do a couple of tears.  After that I added some sprinkles of mist and then accidentally spilt sequins across the page, but really like it do just stuck them down!!  I have also got back into a bit of stitching on my pages, I forgot how much I like the look of it.  So I layered and stitched and distressed the papers, and added a little pocket behind the photo.  Then I added some chipboard hearts from October Afternoon (I have nearly finished the whole sheet - they are a mix of stars and hearts in lots of colours and just a great embellishment for me!) then a few of the Websters stickers.  My title is quite long, this beach is one of the favourite places for my boys on holiday - they spend ages in the sea and on the sand, boarding and reading and building and chilling with their friends - hence the title.

Beach Therapy Pocket Pages

I picked up an October Afternoon Daily Flash album at the ATDML retreat, and it comes with all sorts of lovely pocket pages in it, with the intention of making a holiday album.  I really like the smaller albums and pockets for holiday photos as you can fit loads of photos in them and they are really quick to put together.  I picked up some of BoBunnys Miscellaneous Me collection - this is Beach Therapy.  The first page of my album has lots of 2" squares, so I filled a few with sequins and popped cards in the rest.

These are some of the photos from the first part of our trip, and the central part of the page is one 2 by 6" strip so I stitched to make 3 individual pockets.  I added journalling and stickers and all sorts of little bits of ephemera that I have collected over time.

I used some of the stickers from BoBunny's Boardwalk collection from last year, and a few bits of the papers as they all toned well.  I added some faux pearls around the Paradise calls card, and created little punched doilies by cutting up one of my Martha Stewart deep edge punch pieces.

More photos from the Dordogne - prima do a lovely set of French wood veneers so they go perfectly with the holiday - I altered one of the cards that said a day at the beach restores the soul to a day at the pool - just having fun in the water and sunshine :)

Memories with BoBunny Believe

This is one of my favourite pages, I love the colours and the mica and the mists which go so well with the Believe papers from BoBunny.  I covered the page in clear gesso and then started with puddle of mist colours - they are all cosmic shimmer mists across the rainbow, the colours ran into each other a bit and then I added lots of flicks like the flicks of colours you see on these papers.  I added a little stamping with a Kaisercraft grid stamp and some black ink, and added a layer of gauze behind the photo.  I went with black and white for my photo so that I could flood the page with colour.  I layered up lots of the papers, cut out tags and little words - there is a paper filled with phrases so I cut out a few of these and added them at the side of my photo.  The final touches were some gold cotton and sequins and a wood veneer for the title.

It is another Cornish beach photo....could I take more pictures!!! I think I still have some to scrap ;)

Another Messy Video and a page

Hello, I have a new video full of mess and mixed media with a step through this page.  The papers are from Websters' Pages and their Painted Passport line which was in my kit from A Trip Down Memory Lane.

I use a mix of texture paste and stencils, lots of mists and mica, and then I show you how I made the shaker too.  I won't say too much as you can watch it all!  I hope you enjoy it, I still need to perfect my set up at home, but I can proudly say I edited this one all by myself without any help :D

Here is the video, enjoy.

A bit more BoBunny and watercolour

It seemed appropriate to add a bit more water to this page - another photo from one of the Cornish beaches, and there is a little natural bridge which my son is just about to walk over - I love that he still lets me take photos of him!

The papers are all from BoBunny's Soiree collection - it's really pretty. I started the page with some clear gesso so that it could take a bit more water and then added blues, browns and greens using some mists so you can see a bit of the mica in there, I then toned it down a little bit with some white gesso, then did a bit of stamping using some words from an old Teresa Collins set and a texture stamp by Kaisercraft, then got to work on the papers.  I layered up several papers, distressing the edges and added some lace and a little doily.    I added one of the Soiree stickers for the title, and used a little banner beneath it from the button and chipboard set in this collection.  I used some prima flowers at the corner as the blues matched perfectly and added a wood veneer over the top.  I made little wire swirls that I tucked in the flowers by twisting the wire around a paint brush.  I then added a little cluster on the top right hand corner of the page and used shreds of paper and a button.

Remember it is the Virtual Crop at Created by ATDML this weekend, lots of lovely and free classes - do pop by, there is one from me too.

Toastie

So this page celebrates a particular Easter gift....a toastie maker!!

I started with gesso and then added some yellow paint/distress ink (mustard seed) over the top.  I have some new embossing folders - a chicken wire and then metal grid type one from Darice and  I used on vellum circles - I went to town with die cutting on this page - all the circles and then the words which are a WRMK set that I picked up in Homesense.  I distressed and layered all the elements, and then added some of the stickers from the collection too!

The papers are by Kaisercraft and are their #Me collection and this is part of the kit that I got from ATDML.

Limited Edition

Here is another page I made with my kit from ATDML, it mainly uses the #Me collection by Kaisercraft.  I started with the printed background paper, I love all the words, and then painted a couple of areas with a layer of white gesso.  I went about layering up lots of the bits of paper whilst the paint dried, offcuts and some of the stickers.  Distressing the edges, and then also using a little bit of punching and stapling too.  I went with an overexposed black and white photo, so you just have the pops of yellow and blue and green, but other than that it is mostly black and white.

The photo is from a brief visit to Cornwall - it just has the most beautiful beaches, and if you could guarantee the weather I would visit it even more often than we do - I love that coastline!

I've been working on my pages for this months gallery and have another video in store, so I shall be back with those over the coming weeks.

Today I choose Happiness

I made this page with some Pink Paislee C'est La Vie and also some of Kaisercrafts #Me.  Jill at A Trip Down Memory Lane has converted me to using coloured card stock....more often that I would choose, so when I picked up these papers I went straight for the mint green/blue...duck egg type colour  - what ever it's official name is, I love it.  I also picked up some beautiful prima flowers that complemented the papers too.  I started with a layer of gesso where I was going to add my clusters of embellishments and photos, and then cut out several banners from the C'est La Vie papers, and distressed the edges.  I added my photo on top and then some stickers and gems by Websters pages, the journal spot at the bottom is #Me and I added another banner and some washi tape.

The photo is from our Easter stop in Cornwall and a beautiful slate beach called Trebarwith - it's great for climbing, we went there 2 days in a row as the kids loved it, and it just looked beautiful with the sea crashing against the rocks.

Candle holders with Baker Ross

Here are a couple of sets of candle holders that I made using Seagrass Twine and Rattan Slices.  They are really easy to make just with a glue gun and then a wrap of twine, but they look great for summer BBQ's and sitting out in the evening.

I also made a set using Mosaic pieces, they are beautiful and even though they are glass some look like shards of expensive rock!  They look really pretty in the evening as the light bounces off the different colours.  Again I just glue gunned the pieces on, so you can see a little bit of the glue behind the pieces, but this doesn't detract from their prettiness when it gets dark!

Some Macrame with Baker Ross

Hi, I got sent a box of goodies from Baker Ross and inside was this really nice thick seagrass twine, so I decided to have a go at some macrame, which wasn't too hard at all.  I used a mix of tutorials and fiddled with them to get a pattern that worked for me and the twine.

So you start with working out how long you want the string to be, so work out the hanging length ( the string is folded and so an up to the top and down to the base of the plant pot, and a little extra for the knot) and then I would add a good 10" on to that and cut 4 pieces  of string.  I tried starting the macrame with a knot at the top but because the string is so thick it took up a lot of the it, so I ended up just wrapping some of the string around at the base of the loop and tying it off and then went into a square knot (here is the tutorial - I like the colours it really helps! ). I made 3 of these knots and then went into a fish net pattern using reef knots - you have 8 threads coming down you start by knotting them together in pairs around the area where the top of your plant pot will be, try and keep them level, then move down to the next layer of knots where again you create 4 knots but with the alternate pieces of string so you end up with a diamond shape by the 3rd set of knots.  I tied them all off into one large knot at the base much like my first one, but if you have string to do a simple knot I would, and then just trim off all the ends.

Ann's Class with C'est La Vie

This was Ann's class at the A Trip Down Memory Lane retreat and it was taught with the C'est La Vie papers from Pink Paislee.  I am loving that mint colour at the moment and it works well with the pink, even on boy pages.  I have a few shots of my kids and my brother and this was a really relaxed one of them at Easter that I love.

Here is the 2nd page from her class where we started with a plate and ended up with a circular wall, I love this and you can fill or sorts of shapes the same way.  Another black and white photo of my youngest on the beach, I like being able to choose the words that fit your page as it almost journals for you!

I'll be back later on in the week with some more.

Retreat pages with MME On Trend 2

I went on the A Trip Down Memory Lane retreat a little while ago and realised I hadn't shown you the classes that I did and also the pages that I taught.  This time I went for a watercolour technique and we did some resist work as well as lots of distressing and embossing.  Here is my first page from my eldest's birthday, although there is quite a lot of pink in the On Trend 2 papers I went with the navy and mint - I love the gold patterning they have on these papers.

We also used some gold wire and gauze.

The next page looked at the striking hear design that is out on the internet a lot, and we also used a watercolour wash on this page too.

This is the third page we made, and again a little watercolour wash and lots of use of the navy and gold paper, which is beautiful.  Having all the gold meant that I dug out my embossing powders, something I need to do a little more of as I hadn't used them in ages and I love the effect that they add.
